ovulationThe most fertile days of a woman’s menstral cycle are referred to as ovulation. This is when the ovum is released from the ovary in order to be fertilized by the sperm. For the best chances of conception, couples should plan their sexual intercourse for these few days. A woman can monitor her body for certain clues that indicate the ovulation period is taking place. For more accurate findings, however, couples can purchase a variety of ovulation kits at their local pharmacy.

Ovulation occurs when a female ovary releases an ovum into the fallopian tube. Successful ovulation is necessary in order for people to reproduce. Typically, a woman is at her most fertile time during the few days on either side of her ovulation day. This is because the luteinizing hormone (LH), which is a chemical that triggers the release of an ovum, is at its highest production point. If a couple is trying to achieve conception, intercourse during these few days is important for reproduction purposes.

In the animal kingdom, human males are generally the only species that do not know when their female partner is experiencing ovulation. Other animals emit strong scents that indicate the best time for fertilization, but this is not the case in humans. In fact, even women might be unable to determine their ovulation periods unless they are in tune with their body. For instance, females have an increased libido just before their ovulation days. They can also detect minor changes, such as body temperature and cervical changes that give them a clue that they are ovulating. In rare cases, some females even experience a heightened sense of smell.

You can get a variety of ovulation kits at your local pharmacy or department store. Some popular ovulation kits are as easy as taking a sample of saliva to detect the amount of hormone you are producing. Other ovulation kits require a urine sample to help you determine your most fertile days. Couples who have specific pregnancy goals often utilize ovulation kits so they may plan their times of intercourse for the desired conception results.
