I think this is fantastic advice! I have to say that even though I am not a single parent, there have been long periods of time due to my partner's work commitments and then ill health when I have had a bit of a 'taste' as to what it would be like. I think everyone does at some stage.

So I just wanted to say that I am in complete awe of single parents. It's tiring being the one making all the decisions, being the only one saying "no, you can't have donuts for dinner!", or trying to take photos at the school concert and watch at the same time, not to mention being the only source of income.

I think taking time out for yourself is important, so that means working on a good support network.

One other point that may be useful is finding a trusted mentor of your opposite sex for your kids. This seems to be especially important for boys (and not just those raised by women).
